As a survivor of stage 3a breast cancer, I understand that receiving a cancer diagnosis can be one of the most overwhelming events in your life. Anxiety, fear, and panic—these are all common reactions, and can persist well after treatment is completed. And since cancer impacts almost every area of your life—home, work, finances, and your closest relationships—it’s an especially necessary time to seek help for your emotional health.

A safe space to cope

Cancer often comes with the added stress of feeling the need to protect your loved ones from your own fears and emotions, which can in turn lead to isolation. Therapy allows for a safe place to explore and process your thoughts and feelings freely without worrying about how your listener may feel.

Cancer & relationships

The research has shown how integral mental health is to our physical health, particularly in the success of treatment. A strong relationship not only helps with healing, but can serve as a buffer against the stresses that commonly accompany a journey with cancer. Whether you choose to attend counseling as an individual, couple, or as a family, please know that it’s an honor to help you make sense of your journey and learn to live with hope in times of uncertainty.
